Our History

Pro Print was established fifty years ago and the strong values we established then formed the roots of our success and are still very much evident today. Our steady growth over time has been the result of our ability and understanding of the need to keep up with today's high demands for state-of-the-art technology.

Looking around our plant today, it is perhaps difficult to visualise our humble beginnings five decades ago.

Ernest and Doreen Roberts were given an opportunity of a lifetime when in 1964 they bought the print division from the then Allen Hanburys, now Glaxo Smithkline.

Equipment comprised 3 Heidelberg Platens, 2 hand-fed Croppers, a Heidelberg cylinder, Ludlow and guillotine, along with a staff complement of just 12.

Fast forward to the cutting edge technology and processes in use today, Pro Print is well equipped and staffed to accept greater challenges and meet tighter deadlines in today's world of paperless artwork and digital proofs. Pro Print will stay true to its founders' values, never forgetting the skill, experience, craftsmanship and unparalleled service that have always been the fundamental basis of our success and well-earned reputation.

Up until 2019, Pro Print was managed and owned by Barry Roberts, son of Ernest and Doreen Roberts. Barry joined the company in 1965 and built it to where it is today.

With a staff compliment of 184 (of which 40% have more than 10 years’ service), Pro Print has many years of experience to offer the print industry.

Since 2020 Yvette Roberts, daughter of BARRY ROBERTS is managing the business. Yvette is a majority Shareholder.
